What is a merchant account and why I need one to accept payments online?

A merchant account is an account that enables you to accept card payments (debit and credit) from your clients. The acquirer (Cim Finance Ltd) will provide you with the merchant account after a signed agreement establishing the terms and conditions including the settlement of your funds to your designated bank account.

How do I apply for a merchant account?

How long does the approval process take?

Once we receive your application form and the relevant documents, we shall proceed with our verification and vetting process. This should take 5 working days before we revert back to you with the approval decision.

How secured is the Cim Finance Payment Gateway?

Our payment gateway is PCIDSS compliant, which is mandatory by Cards Association to handle cards transactions. We also provide 3D secure transaction processing, i.e., ‘Verified by Visa’, ‘MasterCard SecureCode’ and ‘UnionPay Online Payment’ (UPOP).

How will I receive the proceeds from my transactions?

We will transfer the proceeds from approved transactions (completed sales) to your designated bank account. Our merchant account team will provide you with weekly statements to easy-up your reconciliation process.  

Can I view my transactions being accepted?

Yes, you will have access to our secure online payment gateway where you will be able to view all your transactions (accepted, declined, refunded, etc) in a live environment. You will also have access to many other features including reports directly online. A login and password will be provided to you. 

What are the fees applicable?

Firstly, all fees applicable will be as per the agreement and there will no hidden fees. We have a dynamic and competitive pricing model based on your activity and profile mainly composed of:

  • A Merchant Service Commission (MSC) which is a % of the approved transaction amount
  • A fixed fee per transaction
